Why I Teach. My mission and purpose as a teacher is to provide students with the skills they need to be successful in their academic and adult lives. As a society, we study history to learn where we came from in order to know where we are going. We study the human experience to understand our surroundings, in order to understand the present and construct the future. My goal is to provide all students with the ability to recognize and exercise this and utilize it to construct valid arguments about who they are and who they will become in the future. I will provide students with the skills to research and analyze resources critically. With this, they will construct sound arguments through speaking and writing about their stance on how history effects society's reactions in current times. Students will be able to conclusively comprehend the world around them as they create their views of where they stand in this world. Ultimately, these skills will not only be introduced to them as they embrace their adult lives, but rather these skills will be initiated, here and now, to provide them with a stable foundation for their academic, professional, and personal development.
